To prevent new stress on this already-vulnerable ecosystem, WWF is askin the Australian government to ban all dumping of dredge spoil into the Great Barrier Reef World history Site. If appropriate measures are not taken fully to reverse the reef’s decline, the location risks being detailed as “in danger” by UNESCO.

“The Great Barrier Reef is just one of the planet’s richest sea habitats, home to put at risk types, a very important financial asset for Australian Continent, and a normal treasure for your globe, ” stated WWF Overseas director-general Marco Lambertini. “Turning the reef into a dumping surface may be the wrong choice for the surroundings and tends to make no business feeling, specially to create ports which can be unnecessary.”
